La Galeria showcases the vibrancy and culture in the area by bringing the thriving art scene of Corpus Christi outdoors.  Our collaborative work features themes of empowerment through sisterhood, a sense of play with geometric faces, curvilinear figures, patterns, dynamic compositions, and a vibrant color palette that highlights the connection to our cultural roots.

Mockup of Mural Design

This work is based on our guiding quest to find unity and live together peacefully. The sentimental scenes between sisters featured in the mural illustrates our view that sisterhood is the key to empowerment, social change, and freedom. This connection to each other allows us to recognize how our actions effect those closest to us. Our work often references iconic paintings borrowing from renowned images and reconfiguring the forms and figures so that they become more emblematic of today’s times. Merging the figures with anonymous abstracted faces so that there is a focus on the eyes, we engage with the concept of looking, of watching. This work recognizes the way in which sisters keep watch of the world. These are key traits of our collaborative work as artists. Additionally, this will be an interactive mural that includes animated AR layers to showcase the existing confluence of our physical world and virtual existence. Using the app, Artivive, viewers will be able to play the animated AR layers providing a sense of depth; taking the 2D work into a virtual 3D environment. The intent of this experimentation is to evoke an awareness of the shift in our new lives, of this hybrid existence.
